• Hockey Canada recently banned checking from Pee Wee hockey in all provinces. I think this is a huge mistake. While it may reduce some injuries at the Pee Wee level, I believe it will lead to an increase in injuries at the Bantam Division. Kids will have two extra years of being in the habit of skating with their head down, and the players will also have two more years of growth and strength to throw at the players who may be susceptible.
  • Nathan MacKinnon's play in leading the Halifax Mooseheads to the Memorial Cup more than cemented my thoughts that he will be the best player to come out of this year's Draft. However, I still think the Avalanche will select D-man Seth Jones 1st overall, unless they trade the pick.
  • For those people who constantly trash Sidney Crosby on Twitter, I have a message for you. Say what you want about him complaining to referees, but Sidney Crosby does not "suck." He is, by far, the best hockey player in the world and just because he doesn't play on your favorite team doesn't make him any less so.
  • This may seem confusing, but while I don't think Matt Cooke should have received a major and a game misconduct for his hit on Adam McQuaid, I do think he should have been suspended. It seems that Raffi Torres was suspended based on reputation for his hit on Jarrett Stoll, which was not really that bad of a hit. So, if that's the case, then have some consistency NHL and do the same to Cooke who, despite his clean record as of late (still awaiting the results from CSI Ottawa), has a far more lethal rap sheet than Raffi.
  • Does anyone else think that with Glen Healy and Pierre McGuire sandwiched in the booth between the benches for the Boston/Pittsburgh series, that small zone could officially become "The Most Annoying Place on Earth."
  • John Tortorella will not be without work for long. If he does not get hired this summer, I think he may be the first replacement coach for a struggling team out of the gate next season. For some reason I see him landing in Philadelphia.
  • Team USA will have some tough decisions to make when it comes to goaltending for next year's Olympics. Jonathan Quick is arguably the best goalie in the world right now, then you have the likes of Craig Anderson, Jimmy Howard, Corey Schneider and Ryan Miller in the mix as well.
  • Two guys who won't get Conn Smythe consideration, but are vastly underrated are the Bruins Johnny Boychuk and the Hawks Andrew Shaw.
  • My Conn Smythe leaders to this point would be Milan Lucic, the "Boston Beast in the East", and Jonathan Quick, the "Best of the West."
  • Marc-Andre Fleury will once again be a dominant goalie in the NHL, there is no doubt in my mind.
  • I am begging you Hockey Night in Canada, please #FreeBobCole
  • Expect visors to be grandfathered in to the NHL after the Competition Committee meetings, hopefully there will be some progress towards an agreement to the icing rule as well, as it is long overdue.
  • Michael Ryder was told he would not be re-signed by Montreal this summer.  He is a great top six forward who has lots to offer and seems under appreciated, seems like the recipe to be rescued by the Red Wings.
