Islanders dominate the Pens
Islanders dominate the Pens in a rare win in Pittsburgh. The Islanders almost shut out the Pens for the first time since the Kelly Hrudey days. I was buzzing during this game!
Here are my four points:
It is very rare to watch an Islanders’ game and be completely satisfied with their performance. But it is hard to be critical of the Islanders. The power play was great. The penalty kill was great. Goaltending was great. I was even ok with Tavares make some passes to the Pens.
Will this win lead to better things? Could this be the win that propels the Islanders to better things? I read a comment on Twitter that the Islanders usually start the season well; but after the first 10 games the Islanders start to struggle. I will keep note of this stat. But for now I will enjoy the win!
Oh Captain! Man, I really wanted Nabokov to get that shutout (especially since I have him on my fantasy team) and after his performance versus the Jets he deserved it. Mark Streit should have done better on the Pens goal. If you watch the replay of the Pens goal, Streit was positioned right next to the goal scorer, DuPuis but was still able to finish the play and score. Streit needs to do better to tie DuPuis up.
Where was Crosby? Crosby had a very quiet game. I don’t remember him creating any scoring chances for the Pens.
Jack Capuano hair moment of the game: The McDonald hit. It was stupid. He should not have drove the player’s head into the board. I agree with the call and McDonald will be suspended for the hit.
