Monday Night Recap Around the NHL
There were only four games in the NHL last night. But two significant injuries to Evgeni Nabokov and Nathan MacKinnon.
Islanders 7 Stars 3
Kevin Poulin, filling in for Evgeni Nabokov who was injuried in the first period, allowed two goals on 15 shots and John Tavares scored a hat trick and two assist in the Islander 7-3 win over the Stars. Brock Nelson, Peter Regin, Brian Strait and Ryan Strome also scored for the Isles.
Kari Lehtonen allowed seven goals on 43 shots while Jamie Benn, Erik Cole and Valeri Nichushkin all scored in the Stars 4-3 loss to the Isles.
Blue Jackets 4 Rangers 3 S/O
Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 40 shots in his return from a month long injury and Brandon Dubinsky scored a goal and added an assist in the Blue Jackets 4-3 shootout win over the Rangers. James Wisniewski scored a goal and an assist and Cam Atkinson scored a goal.
Henrik Lundqvist allowed three goals on 39 shots and Rick Nash scored twice in the Rangers 4-3 shootout loss to the Blue Jackets. Brian Boyle scored the other Rangers goal.
Canadiens 2 Panthers 1
Carey Price stopped 26 shots while David Desharnais and Brian Gionta each scored a goal in the Canadiens 2-1 win over the Panthers.
Tim Thomas stopped 33 shots and Sean Bergenheim scored the lone Panthers goal in a 2-1 loss to the Canadiens.
Flames 4 Avalanche 3
Karri Ramo made 22 saves and Jiri Hudler scored a goal and an assist in the Flames 4-3 win over the Avs. Joe Colborne scored a goal and an assist, while Sean Monahan and Mike Cammalleri also scored for the Flames.
Jean-Sebastien Giguere made only 15 saves and Paul Stastny scored a goal and two assist in the Avs 4-3 loss to the Flames. Nathan MacKinnon scored two goals but left the game after taking a shot on the ankle late in regulation and was having X-rays taken on it.
