Bruins 3 Ducks 2 S/O

Tuukka Rask made 21 stops and Zdeno Chara scored his second goal of the season in a 3-2 shootout victory over Anaheim. Carl Soderberg scored the Bruins other goal and his first NHL goal.

Jonas Hiller allowed two goals on 23 shots and Devante Smith-Pelly recorded a goal and an assist in the Ducks loss. Mathieu Perreault also picked up a goal and an assist.


Rangers 2 Sabres 0

Henrik Lundqvist stopped all 29 shots he faced and Chris Kreider scored his second goal of the season in a 2-0 win over Buffalo Thursday night. Derick Brassard also scored in the Rangers win.

Ryan Miller turned aside 44 of 46 shots and Matt Moulson failed to have a shot on goal in the Sabres shutout loss to the Rangers.


Coyotes 5 Predators 4 S/O

Backup goalie Thomas Greiss stopped 36 of 40 shots and Shane Doan scored a goal and an a assist in Phoenix's 5-4 shootout victory over Nashville Thursday night.  Rookie Jordan Szwarz scored his first NHL goal, Derek Morris and Antoine Vermette also scored for the Coyotes while defenseman Keith Yandle had two assist.

Carter Hutton allowed four goals on only 25 shots and David Legwand scored a goal and registered two assists in Nashville's 5-4 shootout loss.  Erik Nystrom, Matt Hendricks and Paul Gaustad also scored for the Predators.


NHL News and Notes.....Avalanche have traded Steve Downie to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for Maxime Talbot..... Bruins defenseman Johnny Boychuk has left Thursday's game against the Ducks with an undisclosed injury and did not return.....Predators Roman Josi return Thursday night after being sidelined since Oct. 4 due to a concussion......Leafs Carter Ashton will have a conference call hearing with the NHL on Friday for his hit on Calgary's Derek Smith......Canadians Max Pacioretty is projected to play this weekend, according to coach Michel Therrien and Alexei Emelin and the Montreal Canadiens have agreed to a four-year extension worth $16.4 million........Sabres Patrick Kaleta has finished serving his 10-game suspension.....Blues Maxim Lapierre finished his five game suspension and is eligible to play on Friday.....Semyon Varlamov has been granted permission to travel with the Colorado Avalanche.
The Avalanche play in Dallas on Friday. Prosecutors are deciding whether or not to charge him in a domestic violence case. Varlamov is accused of assaulting his girlfriend, kicking her in the chest and dragging her by the hair. He was ordered by Denver County Judge Claudia Jordan to stay away from his girlfriend and not contact her.
