Wednesday Night NHL Recap
There were only three NHL games on Wednesday night including a rivalry game between the Capitals and the Penguins.
Penguins 4 Capitals 3
Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 25 shots while Jussi Jokinen and Olli Maatta scored a goal and an assist in a 4-3 win over the Capitals. Kris Letang and Taylor Pyatt also scored while Matt Niskanen had two assists.
Michal Neuvirth stopped 33 shots and Alex Ovechkin scored his 34th goal of the season in the Capitals 4-3 loss to the Penguins. Jason Chimera and Brooks Laich also scored for the Capitals.
Leafs 4 Sabres 3 S/O
James Reimer made 37 saves and Phil Kessel scored his 22nd goal of the season in the Leafs 4-3 shootout win over the Sabres. Morgan Rielly and Nikolai Kulemin also scored for the Leafs.
Ryan Miller stopped 36 shots and Cody Hodgson scored his 10th of the year in the Sabres 4-3 shootout loss over the Leafs. Matt Ellis and Matt Moulson also scored for the Sabres.
Ducks 9 Canucks 1
Frederik Andersen stopped 31 shots while Corey Perry scored twice and had two assists in the Ducks 9-1 win over the Canucks. Nick Bonino scored two goal, Teemu Selanne scored two goals and a assist, Jakob Silfverberg and Sami Vatanen scored a goal and a assist and Andrew Cogliano scored a goal.
Eddie Lack allowed three goals on only 13 shots before being pulled for Joacim Eriksson who made 25 saves on 31 shots and Zach Kassian scored a lone goal in the Canucks 9-1 loss to the Ducks.
