Thursday Night Recap from the NHL

 

Penguins 3 Bruins 2

Marc-Andre Fleury allowed two goals on 23 shots and Jussi Jokinen scored his sixth goal of the season in Pittsburgh's 3-2 win over the Bruins Wednesday. Brandon Sutter and Chris Kunitz also scored for the Pens. 

Tuukka Rask allowed three goals on 31 shots and Patrice Bergeron scored a goal and added an assist for the Bruins in a 3-2 loss. Jarome Iginla scored the other Boston goal.

 

Leafs 4 Flames 2

Jonathan Bernier stopped 41 shots and Joffrey Lupul scored his seventh goal of the season for Toronto in a 4-2 win over the Flames. James van Riemsdyk, Paul Ranger and Mason Raymond all contributed goals to the Maple Leafs.

Karri Ramo allowed three goals on just 21 shots and David Jones scored his third goal of the season for Calgary in Wednesday's 4-2 loss. Matt Stajan was the other Calgary goal scorer.

 

Red Wings 2 Canucks 1

Jimmy Howard made 19 saves and Tomas Tatar scored his first of the year and turned out to be the game winner in the Red Wings 2-1 win over the Canucks. Daniel Alfredsson scored the other Wings goal.

Roberto Luongo made 25 saves and Daniel Sedin scored his sixth of the year in the Canucks loss to the Red Wings Wednesday night.

 

Kings 4 Sharks 3 OT

Jonathan Quick made 17 saves and Anze Kopitar scored the GWG and added an assist in the Kings 4-3 OT win over the Sharks. Drew Doughty, Jarret Stoll and Justin Williams also scored for the Kings.

Antti Niemi made 19 saves and Logan Couture scored his seventh of the year in the Sharks 4-3 loss to the Kings. Joe Pavelski and Marc-Edouard Vlasic also scored for the Sharks.

 

News and Notes.....Colorado goaltender Semyon Varlamov is being held in a Denver jail due to alleged kidnapping and assault charges.
Varlamov reportedly turned himself in to police Wednesday and is currently facing second degree kidnapping and third degree assault charges. The Avalanche released an official statement, which reads: "The Colorado Avalanche organization is aware of the allegations concerning Semyon Varlamov. At this time, and until the conclusion of this investigation, the Avalanche organization will have no further comment on this situation.".....Blues Blues Brenden Morrow is day-to-day with an undisclosed injury and Magnus Paajarvi (upper body) has been placed on the injured reserve list. .....Jeff Skinner (upper body) has been ruled out for Carolina's next two games......Ducks Teemu Selanne needs oral surgery and is expected to be out for two weeks as a result..... Alex Ovechkin is dealing with an upper-body injury.
The Washington #Capitals are reporting that Ovechkin is day-to-day.
